OER Presentation at the OCW Consortium Global Conference
Last week Chris and I attended the OpenCourseWare Consortium's Global Conference in Monterrey, Mexico. There we had the opportunity to see, hear, and talk to people from all over the world who are working on open courseware.
We presented at a session called "An Industry and Competency Driven Approach to OER" where we talked about the Food Safety Knowledge Network and its unique approach to open educational resources. The slides from the presenatation can be seen below:
Chris also presented with Joel Thierstein from Rice University's Connexion on "New Forms of Assessment and Accreditation." Overall we had a wonderful time filled with great dialogue, new connections, and wonderful hospitality.
The group members will survey the existing scholarship on the first-year experience, investigate effective first-year teaching practices, and explore strategies for promoting first-year student success.

I just watch the slide show. The issue is very important in these days. Food is something that we eat every day. And food is something that can work as medicine or poison! So food safety knowledge is vital for everyone.
