Global Ventures Since its founding in 2000, MSU Global has played a key role in facilitating the growth of academic online and international programs and enrollment at Michigan State University through its business planning and marketing support.

MSU Global has created and refined a replicable "formula" for success that integrates credit and non-credit continuing education in all formats. This success formula is called MSU Global Ventures and builds on MSU's research gems and signature domains with suites of learning products that serve specific constituency needs throughout their lifestyle.

Current Ventures include:

  • My Horse University: provides online learning experiences that improve the quality of horse care, environmental stewardship, and recreation by horse enthusiasts.
  • Citizen Planner Online: a convenient online learning opportunity that provides training for busy citizens and professionals involved in complex land use issues.

  • Learn2BeGlobal (L2BG): addresses the real market need for accessible, effective cross-cultural competency learning tools and resources to ensure small and mid-size U.S. businesses success as they engage in the international marketplace.
  • Horticulture Gardening Institute: online programs designed to meet the needs of gardening enthusiasts who use the Internet for learning and finding information.

Other programs include:

  • Business Communication Certificate Program: a unique professional development program designed to provide participants with knowledge and practical application of business communication skills focusing on core communication competencies to improve customer service and organizational productivity.

  • Global Investment and Trade: an online certification program and exam that provides the knowledge and hands-on experience to better understand, manage, and mitigate the credit risks associated with doing business internationally created by FCIB in partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce and MSU Global.

  • International Business and the Certified Global Business Professional Learning Resources: On July 1, 2004, the Department of Education, Business and International Education (BIE) Program awarded MSU Global a grant to help address Title VI, Section 611 (a) of the Higher Education Act.

MSU Global teamed with experts in the international finance field to create a series of learning and instructional resources. The resources will help increase international skills in the business community by addressing the need of the international trade practitioner for knowledge and information that is specific to trade finance, and by providing a means for educators and business practitioners to transfer knowledge, skills, and understanding of the global marketplace to a number of prospective learners.
